Over a Tea

Even though coffee had made its way into China and has grown extremely popular – especially among the younger generation in the cities – a bottle of tea is still a common ‘gadget’ the majority of Chinese people is carrying with them throughout the day. Filled with water and huge tea leaves it’s refilled various times a day; the tea leave ‘performance’ is sufficient for repeated refills.

After work and on weekends, Chinese’s passion for tea is reflected in busy tea houses, available basically in each city. You are equipped with a huge thermos filled with boiling hot water and asked for selecting your tea of choice from huge bowls of dried chamomile, jasmine etc. And off you go with your massive thermos, finding a seat and spending the entire day in the tea house – next to Chinese grandma and grandpa trying to keep their curious grandchild under control.
