Dental care – usually happening behind closed doors in a fully sanitized and desinfected environment. Not so in Hotan, Xinjiang Province, China. Open-air dental technicians provide for brand-new teeth on the spot.
Equipment thoroughly laid out on a table – some chemicals, modeling clay, some scissors, some carving tools – everything what is needed for creating new teeth.
The customer – arriving without ANY teeth. To start with, a solid foundation made of modeling clay is prepared and attached to the upper jaw. Next, another piece of ‘dental clay’ is moulded and applied to the upper jaw on top. Final touches are done by carving out beautiful teeth. Done. Ready to go with the brand-new teeth.
