Taxilogue - Lebanon - religious co-existence in Beirut

Hotel Cavalier, Hamra to Beirut Airport

Beirut | Lebanon | 2019

On the way to Beirut airport – ploughing through Beirut afternoon traffic

Driver’s phone ringing – phone being picked up – conversation in Arabic is developing – becoming more and more excited – gestures more animated – atmosphere more irritated – voice more yelling – and finally freaking out
Car being stopped – the scene is continued outside the car on the street…
How long might Lebanese animated conversations last on average?

I need to get to the airport – I am in a hurry, my plane is leaving soon!

Driver looking at me – returning back to reality and his original mission to get me to the airport – dialing another number – another conversation in Arabic evolving…
Me – getting out of the car, pulling my backpack out of the trunk – driver gesturing I should wait – hm, ok…
Some 10 mins later a car stopping next to our taxi – driver giving quick instructions – backpack and myself being handed over to the replacement taxi with a driver not busy with animated phone arguments…
